The Saint Michael's Star Walk is an opportunity for the local community to come together and show their support for your local Hospice. You might be walking in memory of a loved one, in support of someone who is living with terminal illness, to support families living in your community or simply to enjoy a good night out. Whoever you're walking for, come out and shine for Saint Michael's. The Star Walk, sponsored by Engage Mutual, is suitable for all ages and abilities and walkers can choose either a 5km or 10km route. There'll be entertainment along the way and a big starlit picnic at the end of the Walk.

Fun competition for teams of three to play a series of matches of Petanque (Boule) over the summer, and raising funds for St Michael's Hospice. Culminates with Finals on Friday 27th September. Petanque is great fun, and easy to play. The Pierhead is a public facility maintained by Harrogate Montpellier Petanque Club. 5th - 20th October 2013 Follow in the footsteps of great mountaineers into the wilds of the Nepali Himalayas. This trek is a special challenge for you and makes an extraordinary difference to others. Saint Michael’s is offering budding adventurers a once in a lifetime opportunity to trek to base camp of the world’s highest mountain while also raising vital funds to help local people living with terminal illness or bereavement. The adventure will start in Lukla, a village set deep in the mountains, from where our party will trek through the homelands of the Sherpas, among their villages and Buddhist monasteries. One rest day will be spent at Namche Bazaar, the bustling market town in the heart of Sherpa country, and the other at Pheriche, a cluster of houses set among the high summer grazing pasture of the region. Without doubt, the highlight for most will be the awe-inspiring views which unfold from the summit of Kala Pattar - the amazing ice sculptures of the Khumbu Glacier, Nuptse and the south-west face of Everest itself. Each day's trek is between five and eight hours in duration. While previous trekking experience is not required, a good level of training and fitness is required and it is recommended that you train for at least six months prior to departure. £300 Registration fee, and minimum sponsorship (£3,400) to be raised prior to departure.
